If you hadn’t heard last week, Norihiko Hibino and pianist AYAKI (both known for their contributions to Metal Gear Solid series, including “Snake Eater”) have been busy getting involved with an arrangement album to aid any insomniac gamer get the much needed sleep they need to function in, well, anything. Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies will feature a live performance of the aforementioned duo, under their collaboration name GENTLE LOVE, creating soothing re-compositions of some of the most iconic themes of modern and classic video games.
The full track list will be unveiled as the May 19, 2014 release date approaches, but currently “Aquatic Ambiance” from Donkey Kong Country and “A Wish…” from Secret of Mana have been revealed. Scarlet Moon Records has many surprises in store for those who keep an eye on the official website as the release on May 19, 2014 approaches.
Scarlet Moon’s Jayson Napolitano comments, “Creating this album has given me the opportunity to highlight game scores that everyone already knows and loves, but also the chance to turn people on to something new. Given Norihiko Hibino’s work on the therapeutic applications of music and his talent for turning the saxophone into a dreamy, sleep-inducing instrument, I knew right away that he and pianist AYAKI were the perfect partners to bring Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies to life.”
