I just finished watching this, and I thought I’d share it with OSV readers.
I’m not sure how I feel about the upcoming Tomb Raider … I have hope that it will be the shot in the arm that the all-but-dead franchise could use. In any case, however, Graves has some really interesting insight here. He talks about a unique instrument built for the game, as well as his love for late 19th and early 20th century composers, and how the true precursor to media (film and game) score is opera and ballet.

I feel underwhelmed that Crystal Dynamics kept the reveal of Graves composing this under wraps for so long. Usually when someone goes to great lengths to keep something on the down low you expect it’s due to the fact that they’ve wrangled up a name that could shake the foundations of things.
And that’s not even to say that Graves is untalented (quite the contrary), undeserving of said secrecy (up for debate I guess), etc.
I suppose it could be viewed as how NOT to market your game (as if the rape controversy wasn’t enough).
