It’s that time of the year again! With Black Friday and Cyber Monday only a few days away, many music software companies have already begun offering their holiday deals and discounts. Like last year, we’ve compiled a list of places having sales on their music and audio tools. More sales are bound to crop up as we get closer to the weekend, so we’ll be updating this list as much as we can. With all of that said, here are some of the sales going on right now or coming up this weekend.
Dennaton Games, makers of the violently psychedelic Hotline Miami series, have put both games on sale for the weekend with all of the profits going to the game’s musicians. That includes contributing artists like MOON, Jasper Byrne, Light Club, El Huervo, Perturbator, Scattle, Mitch Murder and many more.
Despite the game’s strikingly gory and pulsating pixelart visuals, it’s the music that completely defines the experience. I haven’t picked up the sequel but the original was one of my favorite soundtracks from 2012, soaking with grungy EDM, glorious 80’s synth and eerie distortion.
The sale runs from now until Monday, November 23rd (10am PST) and includes the following discounts:
Software company Impact Soundworks has launched a weeklong sale on their sample libraries, with products on sale for as much as 40% off. This includes the guitar pack Shreddage, world instrument packs like Sitar Nation, and scoring tools Celestia and Vocalisa. There’s also special 15% sales on software bundles. These include a full Shreddage: Rock Band Bundle, a Complete World Bundle, and an Everything Bundle.

We Are Error was one of my favorite releases out of all music published in 2008. The high production values, great arrangements and metal mayhem of Year 200X has always stood out to me since I first heard them at MAGFest 5. The album features a plethora of great sources and fan favorites such as Mega Man 3, DuckTales, Ghosts ‘N Goblins, Journey To Silius, Castlevania 3 and Ninja Gaiden 2 to mention just a few. It also had guest appearances from chiptune artist Alex Atchley and housethegrate.

We’ve gone into exhaustive detail regarding the Final Fantasy XIII soundtrack. I named it as one of the best in the series in our extensive review, and we had unpacking videos of both the standard and limited edition versions. Square Enix wants fans in the United States to share the joy of owning this musical masterpiece by Masashi Hamauzu, and are now taking pre-orders for import versions of the soundtrack.
That’s right, Square Enix is releasing the FFXIII soundtrack in the United States via the Square Enix North America store. Not only are they selling it here, but it’s on sale for $29.99 compared to the Japanese release price of 3,990 Yen (about $44 USD). Pretty sweet deal, and fans of Masashi Hamauzu and great game soundtracks owe it to themselves to pick it up. Hit the Square Enix North America store for more details.

Christopher Tin’s debut album Calling All Dawns, which features the hit song “Baba Yetu” from Civilization IV, is going through a special holiday deal.

Earlier this year, we reviewed, and interviewed the composer of, the soundtrack for the PSN downloadable game Shatter. For me, personally, this is one of the best game soundtracks of 2009.
