  Another one of my top 10 most anticipated soundtracks from E3 2015 was released September 13, 2016. Recore is the latest score composed by Chad Seiter known for the excellent scores to Star Trek: The Video Game, LEGO Jurassic World, and Fracture. He also wrote music for the popular TV series Fringe and started his musical career as an assistant Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino.

  Chad Seiter discussed at length in this article on Recore‘s official website how he approached and created the score for the game’s trailer which is also on the soundtrack. You can listen to that track here:

  Although the reviews for the game have been mixed, the music is exceptional. You can listen to samples of the music, and purchase a digital copy of the soundtrack on Amazon for $11.49.

  All of the big presentations at E3 have now been completed, and here on Original Sound Version I have compiled a list of my top ten most anticipated soundtracks to the games that are coming soon.

  The games showcased this during this year’s conference were impressive, and some long overdue.  I have not made the jump to a next-generation console and what I saw this week have made the decision much easier.  Come read about the first five games I think will deliver the best soundtracks and share your thoughts about the games that did not make my list and come back tomorrow for the final five.

  I’ve been intentionally holding on to this one for awhile now. For those who don’t remember, “A Blast From The Past” is an interview series that revisits interviews I conducted while at Music4Games. We’re republishing them here on a somewhat monthly basis as they’re not longer available online. This time I thought it would be fun to celebrate the upcoming release of Metroid: Other M next week by posting the interview I conducted with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption composer Kenji Yamamoto and Retro Studios sound supervisor Scott Petersen.

  In the interview we discuss the series’s transition from 2D into the 3D realm, the audio technology behind the Wii and the Prime series in particular, the interactions between the Japan-based Kenji Yamamoto and the Texas-based Retro Studios, and Nintendo’s lack of official soundtrack releases. This is the interview that I’m probably the most proud of, and I want to thank Nintendo once again for coordinating it and allowing us to republish it along with both Kenji Yamamoto and Scott Petersen for providing such thorough responses.

  Re-reading this, I’m curious to hear how Yamamoto’s collaboration with Retro Studios is going for Donkey Kong Country Returns!

  So, we’ve been posting about the Metroid: Other M soundtrack and how Kuniaki Haishima is working on the title instead of Kenji Yamamoto. Everyone has been wondering what Kenji Yamamoto has been up to, until now!

  In an E3 interview with IGN, Retro Studios mentioned that they were continuing their collaboration with Kenji Yamamoto on Donkey Kong Country Returns after their joint work on the Metroid Prime series. I was initially surprised that Retro Studios was handling the game, but even more so at this news. But I must say that I am even more excited about this game after hearing it.

  Are you surprised by the news? Do you think Kenji Yamamoto will be up to the task or arranging themes from one of the most highly regarded soundtracks in the industry?
