  We’ve featured No Sleeves (no3b) a few times here on OSV. The trio is an offshoot of the immensely popular AKB48 super group, and I’ve been pretty impressed with their past singles. Kimi Shika is the group’s fifth single which was released in 2010.

  The single has been used for a variety of purposes, including the NTV Shiodome Expo 2010 theme song, the ending theme for the TV show Jack 10, and as the theme for the mobile drama, Kotodama no Onnatachi.

  It was a little over a month ago that I was turned on to no3b with their Tane single. It’s definitely worth picking up for “Girl’s Talk” alone you haven’t already checked it out. In our review of Tane I mentioned that the female trio had a new single coming out in November, and I was eager to hear some more incredibly catchy upbeat J-pop.

  Well, no3b (who also go by the name “No Sleeves,” and are apparently an off-shoot of AKB48) is a new group, so perhaps I was naive to think I’d be getting more of the same with their new Kiss no Ryuusei single. That’s not to say it’s not good, but the title track definitely sports a more mature sound compared to “Tane” and “Girl’s Talk.” Would you be more interested if I told you it reminded me of Castlevania?

  Alright, it’s not really Ducktales, but the B-side on no3b’s latest Tane single sure reminds me of the moon stage (my favorite stage in the game) with its chippy sounds and 80s synth pop sounds. But the star of this single is meant to be “タネ” (“Tane”), which is also quite good.

  But wait, don’t know who no3b is? That’s probably because they just got their start at the end of 2008 with their debut single, “Relax!” Tane is their second single to date, and the track is featured on the new Birdy the Mighty anime. I have no idea what that is, but Chris Ling seemed to know something about it!  Oh, and they pretty hot… especially the one on the right!
