Capcom Releasing Limited Edition Monster Hunter X Mini Album

Capcom is giving Japanese Monster Hunter fans a head start on their latest adventure with a special “Hunter Note” package that includes a mini album. Releasing on November 13th — ahead of the launch of Monster Hunter X on November 28th — the book includes three chapters of notes on the game’s four new main monsters, fourteen types of weapons and some strategies for working with other players. It also includes a two-sided poster and a four-track music CD, presumably featuring the themes of the four new headlining monsters.

The tracks will likely be included on the upcoming Monster Hunter X OST but the Hunter Note version will surely be a hard to find collector’s item as it’s only available through Capcom’s loyalty store, E-Capcom. Think of it like Club Nintendo and then get ready to pay a hefty markup on eBay, if these things even make it out of the hands of Japanese MonHun fans.

Sword Art Online Music Collection Coming in January 2016

If you’re a fan of Sword Art Online and have always wanted to own the soundtracks to the series on CD you’re in luck! Right now that only way to buy the soundtrack was in very expensive bundles of the North American or Japanese Blu-rays of the TV series. That will change on January 27, 2016.

I noticed that an album titled Sword Art Online Music Collection was just recently added to the Video Game Music Database. The collection is a 4 CD set containing all of the music from both of the Sword Art Online TV series.

The collection was announced on the Sword Art Online website on October 4 confirmed that the set will contain all of the previous music released in the bundled Blu-Ray sets, with an additional 15 tracks of music bringing the track list to a whopping 131 tracks. There will also be a Limited Edition release of the album which contains an extra Blu-ray disc of the concert held in February 2015 Sword Art Online: Sing All the Overtures performed by Yuki Kajiura, Fiction Junction, and other artists.

The regular edition is priced at 3800 yen, and the limited edition is priced at 4500yen. Both albums are available for pre-order from various Japanese retailers including CD Japan. I will getting my pre-order in soon, are you a fan of the music in Sword Art Online?

There are those who said this day would never come. What are they to say now?

Halo 4 is on the horizon, and people have been wondering what composer Neil Davidge would do in Marty O’Donnell’s and Michale Salvatori’s place. While I personally enjoy the soundtrack album, it is admittedly different. Still, don’t let that dissuade you, as the music in-game is incredibly effective and will have you thinking of Metroid Prime fairly often.

In the meantime, check out the limited-run limited edition soundtrack above. It contains the soundtrack, a remix disc (with arguably better versions of the songs than found on the OST), and a making-of DVD. Also inside is a vinyl record, a code for an exclusive shirt for your XBLA avatar, a signed print, and a massive booklet walking fans through the music production process and each track on the album.

It’s available on the Halo 4 soundtrack website for $74.99, and is definitely worth your consideration.

You’re It: Tekken Tag Tournament, Hybrid Style (Review)

We posted last week about Tekken Hybrid which is out this week, containing Tekken Tag Tournament HD, a demo of the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and the Tekken Blood Vengeance CGI film all in one nice set. While the standard edition will be available for $39.99, those who want to splurge and spend $59.99 will get a nice case, an art book, and of course a double-disc limited edition soundtrack.

OSVchannel: Final Fantasy Type-0 Limited Edition Soundtrack Unboxing Video

With the release of the Final Fantasy Type-0 soundtrack due out next week on October 26, it’s time to start thinking about whether or not you want to spring for the limited edition this time or not. Fortunately the difference this time around is only 500 Yen, so there’s little reason not to pick up the limited edition as you’ll see in the above video. In addition to the bonus DVD, there’s also some snazzy packaging and a full-size booklet to sweeten the deal, although you’re going to have trouble finding a spot in your CD rack for this one.

We’ve previewed the Type-0 soundtrack, but watch for full coverage in the coming weeks. Let us know what you think of the packaging and whether you intend to pick up the standard edition or the limited edition. As of the time we’re preparing this post, there are only 26 copies of the LE available at CD Japan, so you better commit soon!

Skyward Sword to Ship With Orchestral Arrangement CD

Looking forward to playing Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Wii this November? If all of our talk about the game’s music hasn’t gotten you excited enough, Nintendo has just announced that a limited edition of the game will be available on launch day for $69.99 that will include a gold Wii Remote as well as a special music disc titled The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary SYMPHONY – Orchestra Concert Special CD.

Just what’s on the disc? As it turns out, this is material recorded by a live orchestra that will be featured as a part of the 25th anniversary concerts being held in October. I guess that makes it somewhat of a pre-recording although it won’t be released until after the concerts take place in October.

I guess this is the second album that Nintendo announced at their E3 press conference this year, so we have our answer as to what that was all about. It’s a limited edition bonus as opposed to a separate stand-alone release that fans will have to purchase. I’m always happy to get a free bonus, but I’m still hoping for an all-out concert CD/DVD. Maybe we’ll see it in Japan in the future, but in the meantime, we can be happy we’re getting any music at all!

It’s Here: Granado Espada Renaissance OST Volume 3 (Review)

Finally, the day we’ve all been waiting for! Well, at least some of us. The original Granado Espada soundtrack is one of my favorites of all time as you can probably tell from our Soundtrack of the Month article, but I admit I was a bit disappointed by the licensed music featured on Volume 2. Hanbit and IMC Games have fortunately corrected this with the release of the Granado Espada Renaissance Special Limited Edition Original Soundtrack Volume 3 (yes, quite a mouthful).
