Basiscape’s Filthy Porn Soundtrack: Oh! Samura Girls! S Music Collection (Review)

Remember that one time Hiroki Kikuta sent us hentai games? It seems like everyone’s joining in on the fun now, as Basiscape recently released a two-disc soundtrack titled Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! S Music Collection (Oh! Samurai Girls!) for a computer-based light eroge title that actually acts as a sequel to the 2009 original. While I’ve never heard of the series, it was apparently popular enough to warrant its own televised run in Japan.

The story focuses on a tightly-knit group of high school students who come from a town that has strong ties to its samurai ancestry. Basicape was tapped to work on the score this time around, and they’ve released the soundtrack on Basiscape Records much to the surprise of fans, with music primarily by Azusa Chiba and Yoshimi Kudo along with contributions by Kimihiro Abe and Masaharu Iwata.

More Eroge Soundtracks From Kikuta: Nice Life As Wife (Review)

Earlier this month, we (or rather, Jayson) reviewed “Love Relaxation,” which is Kikuta’s score for the 2005 Puzzlebox erotic love adventure Sakura Relaxation. Today, we cover the other album from the Kikuta-Puzzlebox match-up: “Nice Life As Wife.”

Like Love Relaxation, this album title is not one in the same with the game title, which is “Niitsuma wa Sailor Fuku” (and, actually, the Romanization on the album cover is incorrect, it’s actually Niizuma). And also like Love Relaxation, Nice Life As Wife is essentially a reprint of the game’s OST, released as a promotional item alongside the game in 2005. So if you were hardcore enough to follow Kikuta-san’s post-Square, post-Sacnoth work, you’ve probably already heard (or, at least, heard *of*) these albums.

It’s Not Perverted, It’s Love: Hiroki Kikuta’s Love Relaxation Album (Review)

After playing the hentai games that Kikuta sent us, here we are with the actual soundtrack albums. Love Relaxation is actually the Sakura Relaxation soundtrack, given this new name for reasons unknown. But no matter what Kikuta wants to call it, it doesn’t change the fact that this is good stuff!

This album in particular is significant as Sakura Relaxation marked Kikuta’s return to game music after a five-or-so year hiatus marked by canceled games and the closing of his development studio. Most people were right at home with the Sakura Relaxation, as it most closely resembles his work Seiken Densetsu 2 with its playful melodies and whimsical atmosphere.

I’ve been meaning to post about this for a very long time. Everyone knows that Kikuta-san is relatively accessible via his website, and around the time we reviewed his amazing Concerto album, we were talking to him about his work in the hentai game realm. He was all up for us writing about his music in these games, so we figured he’d be sending us the bonus soundtracks that were shipped with the games. Boy were we wrong!

Instead, the package we received at our office contained the actual hentai games themselves. Because it was my duty to tell you about the music, I proceeded to install the games on my laptop, but unfortunately had no luck getting them running to check out the surely awesome tunage within. Sakura Relaxation was kind enough to include a sound test in the game menu, so at least I was able to get a peek at that. Anyway, I figured it was time to post about this funny incident as we’re expecting to run reviews in the coming weeks of the actual soundtrack albums that were released late last year, so stay tuned!

Hiroki Kikuta’s Latest Hentai Soundtracks Out On November 4

You heard it right. Secret of Mana was actually our soundtrack of the month this month, and we loved his Concerto score from earlier this year, so it’s awesome that Kikuta has announced that LOVE RELAXATION and NICE LIFE AS WIFE will be released on his Nostrilia label on November 4 in Japan. This is in addition to the release of IN THE SKY ON THE WATER earlier this month. And that’s a lot of caps!

While most know that Kikuta has ventured into the hentai game realm over the past few years, the music has been pretty hard to come by. It’s great to see the LOVE RELAXATION release which features the music from Sakura Relaxation, which is actually quite reminiscent of his work on Secret of Mana. There was a soundtrack disc included with the special edition of the game, and it’s pretty rare, so an official, widely-distributed release is much appreciated. We’ve actually been talking to Kikuta about some of his hentai work lately, so watch in the coming months for some more info about his latest obsession!
