Nintendo held their media summit conference, showing off the games we will be enjoying during the first half of 2010. We got official dates for Super Mario Galaxy 2 (May 23rd), Metroid: Other M (June 27th) and Monster Hunter Tri (April 20th), which will surely please many Nintendo fans in the months to come.
Most interesting maybe though was the confirmation of Super Mario Galaxy 2 having a fully orchestrated soundtrack! I think most people already assumed this would be the case, but now, IGN finally confirms, along with the trailer for the game. Have fun, and don’t cry tears of happiness like I did when I first saw this. Be strong…!

Excellent!
I was afraid that Super Mario Galaxy 2 would have a completely synthesized soundtrack ever since I saw the first trailer, which—if I remember right—had a synthesized version of the Gusty Garden theme.
The first Super Mario Galaxy’s soundtrack completely surprised me—it is now absolutely one of my favorite soundtracks, not least because of its orchestration. I was really happy to read that the sequel is bringing back the orchestra, and I hope that it uses the choir more too.
I have a feeling that they meant “A full orchestra will be featured.” Just like the original SMG. Doubt everything will be orchestrated, but we’ll be finding out pretty soon!
This is great…..except the standard compression rate on the Wii is like 32kbps.
Now they really should come out with the much rumored Wii HD so we can all enjoy the music with the quality all of us game music lovers want.
Or just buy the OST
