Hey everyone,
Just wanted to drop a quick note: our own Audun Sorlie has a lengthy article published at Gamasutra detailing the life and work of the wonderful composer Ryu Umemoto.
As I’m sure you all remember, the prolific composer that broke ground in the realm of visual novel soundtracks (EVE: Burst Error, YU-NO) and later in CAVE soundtracks (Akai Katana OST and contributions to many CAVE arrange albums) passed away due to a sudden and unexpected illness in August 2011.
Among English-speaking gamers, none knew him as well as Audi, so it’s appropriate that Audi be the one to provide so many details on the life of this one very special composer. The final page of the four-page article includes statements from many musicians who were influenced by Umemoto. Please read the article and be sure to leave a message in the comments for Audi and other friends & family of the late Umemoto-san.
