Three freaking hours of game music on the piano. I have no idea who this guy is, but this video is pretty awesome. While he plays a whole lot of stuff I can’t identify (again, there’s three hours of it), I did pick up on the first track from an Idol game that was also featured on the recently reviewed EXTRA albums, as well as some Chrono Trigger a little ways in, and an impressive arrangement of “Polyanna (I Believe in You)” from the Mother series at the 107:45 mark.
What’s more, this guy has apparently been recording more shows since then (this one was recorded on May 8). The most recent episode is much more manageable at just under 40 minutes in length, but still, that’s a lot of game music to absorb! There’s a lot of great music here that you may not be familiar with, and all the narration is in Japanese, unfortunately, but it’s worth digging through.
What do you think of Professor Sakamoto’s live piano performances? Think he’s on to something?
[Thanks Dale!]

That’s really impressive. There’s plenty of youtube and nico vids of people performing game/anime music, but I haven’t seen someone stream until now. I like it!
So far, there’s the DBZ OVA opening, K-on opening, Neon Genesis Evangelion opening, Ouran High School Host club ending (Shisou) then I don’t know after that haha.
Oh yeah, I know the NGE one. “Cruel Angel Thesis” or something? I just skimmed through to find some more stuff to mention, but it’s so damn long, haha. And yeah, lots of anime stuff, it seems.
Hey, he was playing my arrangement! No mention of that?!

I don’t listen to your music Dale, so how would I know? Haha. Anyway, did you post your sheet music somewhere?
Nice, he also plays some Hisaishi music – Main Theme of Laputa e.g.
Oh I’m going to have a ball with this, but around 9:20 is absolutely ‘Cha-la head Cha-la’ (DBZ main opening) with a few itty-bitty mistakes. And before that, the iconic EVA opening Zankoku na tenshi no teeze (Cruel Angel’s Thesis).
I just love the narration, too. Whoever he is, he’s really enjoying himself.
It’s all a tad sloppy but who cares? This is extremely cool. I imagine it’s like someone with encyclopaedic knowledge of game and anime themes on piano taking over the piano at a party after a few drinks. Pure gold.
Hehe, and ‘Yuzurenai Negai’ from Mahou Kishi Rayearth not long after those. Awesome.
Find! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9x-KsUWj3M …awesome.

Wish there was a tracklist =\
Anyone know 12:30? Sounds like something from a Ghibli film…but I’m not entirely sure
