The above image is a small advertisement from the program included at the recent Piano Opera Final Fantasy concert in Japan. So, it’s finally happening. From the above image, some of the tracks on the album will be:
Theme of Final Fantasy XII ~ The Dream to be a Sky Pirate
The Royal City of Rabanastre Town Ward Upper Stratum
The Dalmasca Eastersand
Theme of the Empire
The Skycity of Bhujerba
No word yet who the arranger(s)/performer(s) are, but we have our fingers crossed for Casey Ormond, who did a great job with Sakimoto’s Valkyria Chronicles with the “Piano Pieces” album.
Thanks to Cedille from vgmdb for the tip, and Stephen Meyerink of RPGFan for the quick translation.

Casey Ormond seems to have removed his brilliant Bhujerba arrangement from youtube, so its safe to say he probably has some involvement in this.
Woohoo! I wasn’t much of a fan of FFXII’s soundtrack but a new Piano Collections is always good news in my books! 🙂
Nice catch, Max. Hopefully that means what we think it means. 🙂
I sniffed something like this would be coming along! Super excited, as a collector and pianist I have all the audio and music scores for these and have been wanting and waiting for this (and FF XIV…c’mon SE, this marked Uematsu’s return to the Franchise and he still has a good relationship with you guys, let’s get this going too…). Nice !!!
Scriabinoff — I suspect that SE is holding off on *any* FFXIV music (I mean, they haven’t even released a proper OST for it) until the big 2.0 launch on PS3. After that point, I think eventually things like a Piano Collection and other arranged albums will occur.
Awesome news. About time! I’d like to think that our pestering helped get it into their heads that people want this to complete the collection.
I had questions pending for Shiraishi-san this year about this and FFXIV, so maybe I need to modify them at this point. ;D
Yay!
How long has the wait been now? Thank goodness it’s finally in the cards.
Yes!! Really looking forward to this 🙂
Heh, wow. Even FF13 got its piano collection before 12.
Well, FF13 having a PC was a given since Hamauzu himself is an accomplished pianist and a great piano arranger (see SF2 Piano, FFX Piano). FF12 was, I think, stuck in red-tape licensing hell for some time. It’s the only FF (numbered series) whose soundtrack wasn’t published by Square Enix since the NTT days.

Well at least they released the field and battle tracks piano books /scores to accompnay the ost that did release w the first launch at it’s at least pretty decent, shiori aoyama isn’t always my first choice for arranger but he was true to the basic textures and harmonies and the score does give guidance with chord symbols to the lines can be beefed up a bit but the actual forms of the pieces leave much to be desired. let us hope we get soemthing better w the relaunch!
I’m already order it 🙂
I love FINAL FANTASY XII so much.
