Our friends over at Dog Ear Records have finally revealed a new project that was hinted at during our recent interview with Hiroki Ogawa and Nobuo Uematsu, titled Piacom I. It will contain piano arrangement of old Famicom games performed by Keita Egusa! Sound pretty exciting, doesn’t it? Here’s the planned tracklist:
01. “Elevator Action” from Elevator Action
02. “Yie Ar Kung-Fu” from Yie Ar Kung-Fu
03. “Opening Theme” from Hokkaido Rensa Satsujin ~ Okhotsk ni Kiyu
04. “Power of Anger ~ Poison of Snake” from SALAMANDER
05. “Main Theme” from Final Fantasy II
06. “Theme of Mappy” from Mappy
07. “Snowman” from Mother
Keita Egusa has a short history of performing on videogame soundtracks, with his sole project being in 2006 for a PC visual novel called Hatsukoi. Personally I’m most excited for Yie Ar Kung Fu and Mother, but I’m happy to see that the tracklist is mostly more obscure stuff. I love projects like this! The CD is planned for release date of 11/25/09.
What do you think of these piano game music arrangement projects? And what Famicom titles would you like to see on the next CD in this series?

Keita Egusa is a good pianist, so I’m certainly looking forward to this. Great cover art too.
I haven’t listened to Egusa’s piano work before.
BUT this tracklist gets me super excited! All these old NES games, some of them quite obscure to Americans. I’ve been getting into the OST for Sound Adventure Hokkaido so I’m really pumped about the piano arrangement.
And considering there exists FF Piano Collections for *every* numbered FF except 1-3 and 12, having SOMETHING piano-ish from Final Fantasy II is a real treat.
And Snowman is a great track from Mother.
All in all, I can’t wait to listen to this CD. I’m really tired of CDs that say “Volume 1” but then never have subsequent volumes. I hope this series has MANY volumes!
Interesting album cover. I look forward to checking out these piano arrangements.
Glad they’re finally getting this thing together. Sounds awesome. My picks are FFII and Mother because they’re the only two I know. ;D
Jayson: how you could have not have heard Salamander, Elevator Action, or Yie Ar Kung Fu by now, is like completely absurd…
Huh, I guess I know that one song from Elevator Action. Don’t know Salamander AT ALL. Although I think I listened to the Salamander Fusion album. Remember liking it, but I don’t remember it. Is Yie Ar Kung Fu the Kung Fu from the NES with the side-scrolling, rescue your girlfriend story?
You need to sign up for a Konami history class immediately…
