Game Soundtrack of the Year – Yoshi’s Wooly World
I listen to this one almost daily. Only soundtrack that hooked me this hard. Such great compositions, awesome diversity, and great live performances. I actually took “A-Mazing Post Pounding” to the guitar store and told them, “I want a bass guitar that sounds like this” and played it for them – I now have one that sounds like Wooly World!
Artist/Composer of the Year – Toby Fox
I just can’t believe this guy made a game AND composed its music. And it’s really great music! I gotta give it up to this guy for the ultimate DIY mentality. I could have never have done this. Great music.
Arrangement Album of the Year – Joshua Morse – Arcade Attack!
So many arrange albums come out, but this one is the one I listen to most. Joshua Morse is super talented and I love this album! “Boo! Step” is my JAM!
While I haven’t listened to a lot of key stuff from this year yet because I intend to play them first (Bloodborne, Metal Gear, Halo 5, Xenoblade Chronicles X, etc.), I have to say that I’m not overly impressed with the releases this year. Also hard at this stage not to mention stuff I’ve worked on or promoted, but I’d say:
OST – FFXIV Before the Fall
OST Runner-Up – QURARE
Arrange: Chrono
Arrange Runner-Up: Choco Legacy
Original: Power Overwhelming (it’s brilliant, even though I work with Jake)
Original Runner-Up: Heart Beat Circuit
Heh, Chozo Legacy, too. Choco Legacy should be bLiNd’s next album.
Jayson, I recall you liked the OST to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. If so, you should enjoy Bloodborne’s OST. (also, GO PLAY IT!)
