Kunimoto Takeaki might not be an instantly recognizable name in video game music, but his works certainty are, ranging from Bomber King (released in the West as Robo Warrior), Milon’s Secret Castle, Star Soldier and Starship Hector just to name a few. He was one of the leading composers in the early days of Hudson Soft, before going into other professions after the fall of PC Engine. His love for video game music never withered despite the time he spent away from it, and over the last several years Kunimoto has spent his time assembling passionate talent to arrange and perform game music. His latest show, JADE II, will take place on the 22nd of October and with him will be piano virtuoso Matsuzawa Ken (NES BAND) and the lovely Hagiwara AKIRA, who together perform as Take-chan & Ken-chan. These are not the only names on the ballot for the evening however as there are a number of scheduled guests, them being Tendo (Famicom Guitar), Nekketsu High School Brass Band and Professor Sakamoto! The show will be dedicated to dear friend, Ryu Umemoto.
With such an amazing lineup, you’ll be sure to be in for an amazing night of game music nostalgia. The concert takes place at Shibuya Take Off 7, with doors opening at 18:30. Entry price is ¥2000. For those of you who are not in the area or not in the country, fear not, it will be live broadcasted on Ustream! Be sure to check back on the day of the show for an update and link.
