Apologies to our Christian readers if you take offense to the 8-bit depiction of Jesus. However, even those who are offended will have to admit that this absolutely is a great idea, and just in time for Christmas. Doctor Octoroc has given us our own Christmas album to ring in the holidays in the form of 8-Bit Jesus. What is it, exactly? Well, it’s actually a bizarre marriage between classic Christmas songs and NES sound sets from favorites like Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, and Faxanadu just to name a few, all arranged in glorious 8-bit. With titles like “Ryu, The Red Nosed Ninja” and “O Come, All Ye Vampires,” it has to be good, right?
It gets even better though. While the album is downloadable for free, those who donate in increments of $15 USD will receive a physical copy of the album, with shipping (and international shipping!) included. Pretty awesome deal, and while you won’t have it in time for Christmas this year, you can enjoy it and annoy your family with it next holiday season.
Is this an amazing idea or what? Why hasn’t anyone done this sooner?

The album “G.M.O. Christmas Songs” did it in 1987.

Oh, wow. Well, this is still significant for the whole sound set concept referencing classic NES games. 😉
I saw some of these on another blog. Didn’t know it was an entire album though. Sweet.
SA forum user mafialligator made a NES christmas album last year and this year. http://www.somethingawful.com/d/comedy-goldmine/eight-bit-christmas.php
Sweet and essential for the holiday experience. 🙂
