I’ve been meaning to post about this for a very long time. Everyone knows that Kikuta-san is relatively accessible via his website, and around the time we reviewed his amazing Concerto album, we were talking to him about his work in the hentai game realm. He was all up for us writing about his music in these games, so we figured he’d be sending us the bonus soundtracks that were shipped with the games. Boy were we wrong!
Instead, the package we received at our office contained the actual hentai games themselves. Because it was my duty to tell you about the music, I proceeded to install the games on my laptop, but unfortunately had no luck getting them running to check out the surely awesome tunage within. Sakura Relaxation was kind enough to include a sound test in the game menu, so at least I was able to get a peek at that. Anyway, I figured it was time to post about this funny incident as we’re expecting to run reviews in the coming weeks of the actual soundtrack albums that were released late last year, so stay tuned!
Would you be more than happy to receive hentai games from one of your favorite game music composers? Would you be willing to admit that you tried playing Sakura Relaxation or any of Kikuta’s other hentai titles?

Make sure to set Window’s “Regional Settings” to Japanese (as well as the Language Settings) and then JP games should run no problem. (Yay for Falcom PC games!)
But JP games are even more expensive than JP soundtracks, so no Hentai adventures here yet.
I’m more concerned about the piece of paper that has Fastball’s “The Way” printed on it.
Thanks Carl,
Tommy, I knew somebody was going to notice that! I’m in the process of a move, and shit is all over the place. I took that photo, and was like, “Oh, there’s other stuff in here… oh well, hopefully nobody scrutinizes it.” And there you are. That was actually a list of songs that we had wanted the DJ to play at our wedding… dunno why I still have it sitting around. You don’t like “The Way?”
Tommy’s got a keen eye (or two!). Did you turn the monitor upside down? 😉
I notice details and miss the big picture all the time. And, Robert, one of my many hidden talents is that I can read upside-down text as if it were right side up. It’s awesome and totally useless (usually).
And there is nothing wrong with “The Way”, man – I haven’t heard that song in a LONG time!
I didn’t mean to poke fun at you. I’m actually impressed. I know what you say about noticing details at the expense of the bigger picture, I do that with my music quite often.
“How can I get that one time in the song snare to sound exactly right… I gotta put just a tad more flanger on it. Or maybe tweek that compressor.” 🙂
