With so many fan-made retro revivals coming out these days (check Smaze from last year), it’s no surprise that fans, or in this case, one fan, is busily working on an 8-bit adaptation of the zombie-licious Left 4 Dead. This fan, working under the name Eric Ruth Games, posted a video of his progress so far on YouTube, and I have to say I’m quite impressed that the graphics, coding, and music are all being handled by this one fan.
The track that plays through the majority of the video is pretty damn funky. I admit I only played a little bit of Left 4 Dead with some friends, but I don’t remember anything like this in the game. I think if this guy speeds the gameplay up a bit to get it more in line with the original, he may be onto something, and I’m definitely looking forward to more of his funky 8-bit tunes.
What do you think of his preview video? Do you think this style of music suites Left 4 Dead?

I can supply you with some chip tune demos from my work if you liked what you heard in the video. Thanks for checking it out, and VERY thanks for the compliments!
