Oh, Faxanadu. I wish Falcom would give this game more love, as it was truly an amazing game with some awesome music. I certainly have a lot of memories about how difficult it was, the key guy who said “Nello!,” and the Lakitu-looking things that dropped bread when you killed them. I even remember having one of those “Wouldn’t it be cool if they made [classic game title here] 64?” discussions with some friends when the Nintendo 64 was around, and always saying Actraiser and Faxanadu.
Anyway, this guy has recorded himself on guitar three times over performing the password theme from the game. Awesome track, great arrangement, and trippy video! Really beautiful, which I never would have expected given that this song plays when you die.
Do you think the music from Faxanadu deserves more attention from Falcom? What do you think of this performance?

I wonder why there’s like nothing related to Faxanadu’s music from Falcom, since they’re so eager to release music of their franchise.
Agreed with Juha.
Nearly every Falcom game ever released has had either an official soundtrack release, or an OST packaged within another release (like a Falcom Special Box). This is one of the few games that escaped their music-publishing grasp, and it makes no sense to me. The guitar video is proof that the music is worthy of more attention.
And OMG that is some fine guitar work there. Great video!
Huh. Cool little video. Very nostalgic. The dude as well looks straight out of the 80s.
As for why it never got much music attention from Falcom… Well, technically it was developed by Hudson Soft, who simply gained the license to the name from Falcom, evidently. Maybe that had something to do with it. I could have sworn some of the music overlapped with other early Dragon Slayer/Xanadu games though… I could be wrong.
