I didn’t actually go to E3 this year, but that’s certainly no excuse not to post about a big announcement from our pals at Gaijin Games  — Bit.Trip Beat, the retro rhythm game that started their hugely successful chiptune-inspired series has embraced fruit-flavored ubiquity, and will be coming to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

It’s a solid move for Gaijin, whose games have released solely on the somewhat troubled WiiWare platform up to now. So far there’s no info concerning release dates, but keep checking Gaijin’s blog for more updates. And while you’re at it, gaze in envy at some shots from the kickin’ party they hosted at E3. Cupcakes made of beets? Man, those guys know how to party.

If you haven’t already, check out my interview with Bit.Trip co-creator Chris Osborn, and go grab the super-cheap soundtracks for Beat, Core and Void at CDBaby.
