Beetlejuice? Monster Party? Freaking River City Ransom?! Odd picks for a game music tribute album (although River City Ransom is extremely awesome), but the Canada-based Nerd Army has recrutied these obscurities along with titles like Kirby’s Adventure, Final Fantasy VII, and Double Dragon for their dubut album.
What can you expect from this gathering of nerds? You’ll actually find the standard rock sound that is prevalent throughout the scene, but I can’t help but be excited about hearing River City Ransom performed in this style. You can head on over to their MySpace for samples. While the album is $10 for those in Canada, you’re going to have to contact the band for international shipping rates (finally, score one for Canada).
Are you a fan of these kinds of bands? Are you as stoked as I am about River City Ransom music?
[Thanks Dan!]

Nice to see River City Ransom and Double Dragon getting some more lovin’. I think that The Advantage already covers the Moon track from Duck Tales, but then again I think that Double Dragon has also been done before. I am still waiting to hear a band cover Alpha Mission, Karnov or T&C Surf Designs: Wood and Water Rage.
Ah, the halcyon days of gaming….
Yeah, well. I don’t like this version or The Advantage’s take on the moon song. Actually, the only game remix I ever finished and submitted to OCR was a remix of that track… but has long since be taken down. It sucked.
RUMBLE CITY RAZOR!
