It’s been a little over two weeks now, and you’ve likely been waiting to hear who won these sweet copies of the Metal Gear Solid 4 soundtrack signed by the team at GEM Impact. Well, the editors have looked over the entries, and we’ve come up with one video, one photo, and one text entry that we think deserve a share of the loot.
Don’t feel bad if you didn’t win; we have some more contests in the work for you guys, so stay tuned. And remember, you can’t win if you don’t enter!
Hit the jump to take a peek at the top three entries.
First up we have Joe C., who sent us the disturbing photo below. I guess it doesn’t matter if the CD works anymore as this disgusting show of “Metal Gear Love” has earned him a signed copy of the official soundtrack.
Second is Robby H.’s ridiculous entry that almost didn’t make it to our mailbox in time. The video, titled “Snake Eater!,” features some amazing dance moves and of course, some great music! We just have to say that it takes a lot of guts to make a fool of yourself like this, so well played, Robby!
Finally, we have what basically amounts to a complete review from Clyde V., who talks up his love of the music in Metal Gear Solid 4 and Portable Ops. His meaty entry is exactly what we were looking for in the text department, and earns him a signed copy of the soundtrack.
“Hi,
I would like to take part in this competition by telling you how much I really appreciate all the Metal Gear Solid Soundtrack! There’s a lot to say. The MGS soundtrack is fantastic, it adapts a lot with the scenes occuring in the game! The MGS soundtrack is not only good to hear in game but it also makes people who never played the game before to actually play it when hearing this interesting music! The music is very realistic, it makes the player feel he’s in the actual environment. If we hear the track “Old Snake” From the Metal Gear Solid 4 Soundtrack we can actually hear and feel the sadness of this old dog in his final mission, the rythm gives you a feel of loneliness in a raging warzone, sneaking his way alone in a breathtaking battlefield environment, the track also describes this mission as being Snake’s final sacrifice for all his mistakes. On the other hand, if we listen to the track “Drebin 893” from the MGS4 Soundtrack, we get a relaxing touch of music, a feel of an unknown prescence trying to share business with snake although secretly trying to evade the question for who he really is. I was so astonished when playing Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, the soundtrack truly made us realise that this is yet another blockbuster Metal Gear game. When coming to the fact that Portable Ops‘ soundtrack was made for a Portable System, it still was superior than any other game’s music and made the game look like another huge blockbuster in the series! If we take an example of the track “Gene” from Portable Ops‘ Soundtrack we can feel this sense of unknown decision in big boss’ head, not knowing if Gene is telling him the truth and if he should take his advice or go on with his life and keep fighting for what he’s after, keeping the world the way it is. When I heard Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops‘ main theme, “Calling To The Night,” i was left with no words, this stunning track made me even more sure that this soundtrack was in fact one of the best i’ve heard! This track made Big Boss’ story feel more in depth, the music itself showed us that Big Boss had a hard life but still kept on fighting, Natasha Farrow’s wondeful voice made the final product even a better one!
My iPod (bought for MGS4! :D) is filled with Metal Gear music, i may sound like an exagerated fan but I consider the MGS music to be even better than any other normal music, i don’t like that stuff, i like original music like Metal Gear Solid’s. Wherever i go i take my ipod with me, i always wanted to feel like i’m in the MGS world, so why not listen to the music even outside when i can’t play the games? (when i don’t have my psp on me haha! :D) I also make a lot of Metal Gear Solid Videos in my Youtube Account, either a gameplay trailer or a story trailer of my own, if it wasn’t for the Metal Gear Solid soundtracks these trailers could’ve never been made! Below is a link to one of my videos, a gameplay trailer of MGS4 consisting the tracks: “Mobs Alive” and “Old Snake”
Thanks for reading and I appreciate all your kind work! Until then, i’ll keep on listening Mobs Alive! :D”
As a bonus, although he won’t get a signed copy of the game’s soundtrack, I wanted to give honorable mention to dhsu’s entry featuring him playing “Fortune” from MGS2 on the piano. He likely didn’t win because he didn’t say the site’s name right (just kidding, this was a really hard contest to judge because there were a lot of good entries!).
I wanted to thank everyone who entered, and let you know that we have more contests in store for you guys. That’s it for this one!
