Yep, I’m at it again. I was initially blown away by the recording session that Nintendo posted for “Wind Garden” before the game was released, and even more touched when I heard it in-game. I posted about the amazing Mario Paint video of the theme some months ago, and here we are again, with a live ensemble version performed by the Video Game Orchestra.
Yeah, that’s right, our own Shota Nakama is playing the guitar on this one. He actually almost derails the whole thing with his mediocre playing, but the hot chick in the back on percussion saves the day. In all seriousness, I will never get enough of this song, and this is a pretty decent substitute for a whole orchestra. I’d love to hear them do it in person. I just wish that Mahito Yokota had made the piece just a tad (maybe 4 minutes) longer!

Were you completely awe-struck by “Wind Garden” for the first time? What do you think of the VGO’s rendition?

May 5? That’s my birthday!
Good seeing Shota in action too.
This is still one of the best pieces of VGM ever written. Awesome performance, I live for moments like 1:36 leading into 1:40.
VGO’s definitely got a few lookers!
aaah ahhhh hahhhhhhhhahgnjkfdalgsd AHHH.
