We’re marching forward with OSVOSTOTY 2012! Today’s category, “Best Arrange Album,” is one of my personal favorites. There were a lot of great arranged albums this year, though (as you’ll see in our nominations list) one publisher put the money and time behind this category of music, and they’re reaping the rewards.

After the jump, the six nominees!

Piano Collections Final Fantasy XII

“Casey Ormond’s second run at arranging Sakimoto comes out much stronger than the first, though this can also be attributed to the great source material.”

Final Fantasy Orchestral Album

“S-E’s final album of 2012 is one of its best, paying a high-class tribute to the entire series on a Blu-ray audio disc.”

25th Anniversary Rockman Rock Arrange Ver.

“In the year 20XX, Team Entertainment published two Mega Man arranged albums. ‘Rock’ beats ‘Techno.'”

Re:Birth II / Romancing SaGa Battle Arrange

“Kenji Ito finally gives his Super Famicom trilogy the equivalent of a ‘Black Mages’ album, all with the help of the current lineup of Falcom’s jdk Band.”

The Scythian Steppes

“I highly recommend giving this remixed album a listen-through for its diversity and for the wide variety of talent that not only created the music but also contributed to its makeover.”

Tekaru Mechanical

“The second album from the synth rock band Tekaru, led by Hideki Sakamoto, features music from a variety of great new games; sadly, only a few of these games are known outside Japan.”
