Well, I think all of us will agree that 2008 has been a quiet year for PLAY!. However, with five concerts already announced for 2009, including stops in Canada, Norway, and Ohio, it’s looking to be a promising year for the “best of” game music tour.
We’ve received word from producer Jason Michael Paul today that not only will the first performance of the year scheduled for January 9, 2009 in Edmonton, Canada host special guest Jeremy Soule, but the CD/DVD that we’ve been waiting for since June will finally be released. That’s right, Canada gets it first! Now they can stop whining about not being included in all the game-related promotions and giveaways that take place in the US, right? The album will feature music from Sonic the Hedgehog, Silent Hill, Castlevania, and Halo among others.
Have you been looking forward to the PLAY! CD/DVD? Will you be checking out any of the performances in 2009?

Thanks for letting us know! I was wondering when the PLAY! CD would be released, as all sources — even the PLAY! website — still mention July 2008.
Hopefully we’ll also get to find out when the pre-ordered CDs are going to be shipped, too. I’ve really been waiting to hear that beautiful Oblivion suite recorded by an authentic orchestra — the renowned Prague orchestra, at that!
