Yesterday’s review of the album demonstrates that we (or, at least, I) hold this arranged album from Masashi Hamauzu in extremely high esteem.
In the above video, I mention that I will be giving away one of my two copies of the album (winner gets to pick old or new album). How do you enter the contest? It’s very simple! Oh wow, that’s a very nice contest =). It’s pretty cool that you do these often, I completely missed Hibino’s. Does anyone know if Mr. Hamauzu’s Vielen Dank is as rare as the original SF2? I totally can’t find it either. Masashi Hamauzu is the best piano arranger in video game music, I’m pretty happy they’re releasing all these things!
Definitely Hamauzu’s best soundtrack for me personally. Loads of great themes. SF will always = Street Fighter though. 🙂

SaGa Frontier II was the first OST I ever purchased. Loads of nostalgia for me. However, I never got around to buying this album. It would be nice to have,

It really is very nice of you guys to do these contests. I recently replayed Saga Frontier 2 and the soundtrack is definitely effing amazing, and unlike most people, I actually loved the game itself.
I first read about “Piano Pieces SF2 ~ Rhapsody on a Theme of SaGa Frontier 2” in, what i believe is, your review for the album on Rpgfan.com. It had such praise for it that, since I am a fan of the Final Fantasy piano albums I just had to check it out. I was so thoroughly impressed by the quality of all the compositions that Hamauzu immediately lept to become my favorite composer. Eventually he cemented that position with Final Fantasy XIII OST which I love just as much as this SF2 Piano Pieces.
By chance do you know if the North America Square Enix online store will be getting “Piano Pieces SF2 ~ Rhapsody on a Theme of SaGa Frontier 2”?

The packaging for the original pressing is absolutely gorgeous, and brings back fond memories of when DigiCube was around. I’m actually a little surprised and impressed that they did include the sheet music with the re-release.
I have always been a causal fan of Hamauzu’s work, but it was through you and your reviews, as well as some of the comments you made in our interview, that made me really start to appreciate the man’s work.

I didn’t mention this in the post, but I did get an email about it — YES I am okay with shipping internationally. HOWEVER, if you are distrustful of your nation’s postal service and you want delivery tracking / confirmation, I’m afraid I will have to ask you to cover that cost or do without the insurance (assurance?). It’s one thing to give away goods, it’s another thing to pay $30 to make sure it reaches you in Zimbabwe.

I’ve always loved Hamauzu’s stuff, his tracks were my favorite in FFX and his score for XIII really gave a shot in the arm that the series needed.
I’d definitely go with the original version. something about that black sleek cover…the new version just looks kinda cheap.
I had never even heard the SF2 OST or the piano pieces album prior to this. In fact, my first exposure to Hamauzu was the Dirge of Cerberus album, which I really liked. But based on what I heard in this video, I definitely need to check this album out. It’s interesting to see the difference in the packaging, too– it almost seems like they went cheap, but then again it can’t be the cheapest thing in the world to record new music, can it?
When I first encountered Hamauzu’s work,I only looked at his more electronica based stuff like from Musashi and sigma harmonics. I ignored most of his piano soundtracks. I actually thought SF2 was the worst of his albums at one time. But, overtime he grew on me and his piano works have become an acquired taste. Now,I find myself listening to albums like this and vielan dank more often then anything else!
OMG THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME
SaGa Frontier 2 soundtrack FTW. I had to complete the game, just because the soundtrack was so awesome. The game wasn’t that good since SaGa games have the difficulty of expressing, and unnecessary complex battle system, but in the end the story was quite nice.
Do Want. I would love to see the complete score for the piano collection. Is it any at all difficult to read the score that come packaged with the album?
